A really nice 740 saloon came in this week for a service plus cambelt change.

All fluids and filters, belts, grease propshaft UJs etc and fit a set of rear pads, unseizing the stuck rear caliper enroute,

Had a problem with the adjusters on both the alternator and power steering pump as they were both seized solid, probably why the belts were squeaking so much. One I managed to save with some heat and penetrating oil while carefully using a spanner but the second was having none of it. I welded a nut on the broken end and the heat got it moving but it broke again, Third time lucky, with little threaded bar left, and out it came, luckily I had a very long M6 bolt in stock.

While up in the air I noticed some scabby bits of rust on the underside.

Seeing as it is an otherwise clean car I gave it a rattle with the nail gun and a good wirebrushing before coating with Buzzweld's WAR to seal and protect against further corrosion.

Just MOT welding :)

Doing the restoration work gives me a good bit of practise for doing MOT work :) Most MOT patches from garages etc seem to be a random...
